Wikepedia says ……..”Reuse is the practice of using something again, whether for its original purpose (conventional reuse) or to fullfil a different function (creative reuse or re-purposing.” This is in contrast to recycling, which is the breaking down of used items with the various componenets to be utilized to make raw material to make new products.
When we Reuse we save resources, energy, time and ultimately money. This can be leveraged to be economically advantageous; the availability of quality products available to those with limited means, generating employment and business activity that make positive contributions to the economy.
In our affluent societies, the drive for convenience of disposable products has resulted in minimal reuse of low value items like packaging. Increase environmental awareness is slowly forcing change in attitudes and regulations.
Cost savings for business and consumers as well as raw material and energy savings are a by-product when we replace single use products with reusable ones – less need to be made. If we reuse our disposal costs are certainly minimized. Businesses can develop to refurbish some goods, creating jobs.
